I’m sure most of you are familiar with the concept of sex therapy, but have you ever heard of sex coaching?

I’m Jacee, and sex coaching is my job!

Along with writing these blogs for my favorite adult store, I’m also a practicing Clinical Sexologist and Certified Sex Coach. And in this article, I’m excited to share with you what exactly that means and how it might help you become more fulfilled and satisfied in your sex life.

Allow me to introduce the person behind the Excitement blogs, and to a new way to address your sexual concerns that you may be unfamiliar with.

My Story

I’ve been a sex-nerd since I was a teenager. I remember wanting to learn everything I could about sex, before I had sex for the first time. This girl likes to be prepared, ‘ya know? So as I was going to college, I began working at Excitement to get some experience working in the field. And to this day, this is one of my absolute favorite jobs I’ve ever had. I learned so much about the sex toy industry, how to talk to the general public about sex, and so much more. As time went on, I found myself wanting to go deeper with the people I was talking to on a daily basis.

Excitement is more than just a place to buy dildos. We (the staff) have training that allows us to educate and guide people toward the best options for them. We know so much about our products, how to use them, best practices, and with enough information from the customer - we can reliably point you in the right direction.

But I wanted to help people with sex toys AND beyond. So I decided to pursue further education which led me to becoming a Certified Sex Coach and practicing Clinical Sexologist. Now, along with the training granted to me by my time in the Excitement Stores - I also have training in sexology (the scientific study of sex) and coaching (a holistic modality for resolving concerns). This transformed me into a sex specialist, and now I’m able to work in-depth with people 1:1 on things like orgasm, sexual communication, libido, spiritual sex, body image, erections, and more.

But what exactly does that look like?

What is Sex Coaching?

Sex Coaching is a holistic, person-centered, and sex-positive way to address challenges or concerns around your sexual experiences with a trained professional. Different from therapy, coaching places the focus on the present and future, rather than the past. We work on where you are now, and where you want to be in your sexual experiences.

Through active listening, personalized sex education, assessments and tailored action plans, a sex coach will work with you to transform your sex life into one that is fulfilling and satisfying. It uses a holistic and evidence-based lens, and the coach works together with you to develop a plan to address your concerns. You have their professional support every step of the way.

Sex coaching takes place over a number of sessions either in person or via zoom. Sessions are typically exclusively talk-only, and are offered in varied price ranges.

Sex coaching sessions usually include these elements:

• Personalized sexuality information and education
• Re-directive cognitive processes and mental reframing
• Emotional balancing
• Intuitive guidance
• Behavioral training
• Resources and referrals

This work is transformative for people who are struggling with their sex lives in a number of ways. The container of this modality allows me to go deep, and help clients make actual change and improvements in their lives.
