Excitement Celebrates Pride

It’s officially June which means Pride month is in full swing!

At Excitement, we know that Pride is more than just a celebration. It’s a protest.

Pride is a rejection of the insurmountable iterations of hate against the LGBTQ+ community, which is something we have always stood behind.

We believe in equality for all - including safety, acceptance, and celebration. And while Pride is about more than sexual orientation, part of why we participate in Pride each year is because of our clear and unwavering commitment to promoting sexual freedom and sex positivity.

We all deserve access to our own pleasure, and the right to express our true selves - including sexually!

So if you ever wondered why your local adult store participates in Pride, keep reading for just a few of our reasons.

Connecting with Our Communities

Did you know that Excitement is a small business? With just a few locations around Pennsylvania, we aren’t a giant corporation. The incredible people that operate your local sex shop are the backbone of this company, and they’ve put their blood sweat and tears into every corner over the years.

We love participating in Pride events because it’s an opportunity for us to connect directly with the communities we serve. From handing out goodie bags and gifts to just chatting with all the people that come to our booths, we love getting out there and meeting our people face to face. In the same vein, our community gets to meet us! It’s amazing to connect with people in this way, and meet other local businesses as well.

Promoting Sex Positivity

The term sex positivity is sometimes misconstrued to mean that only certain types of sexual expressions are accepted. But at the core of our business, we promote true sex positivity, which means that we support every type of sexual expression within the obvious boundaries of consent.

Further, we reject the overly mainstream agenda of cis heteronormativity.

To be sex positive is to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, and that’s why we celebrate Pride!

We celebrate in order to promote the true mission of sex positivity that includes us all!

Supporting the Cause

Finally, and arguably the most important reason that Excitement is at your local Pride - we reject the discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community.

The outright legal attacks on this community across the country this year are against everything we stand for. Basic human rights are on the line and before we can promote sexual wellness and freedom for all, we first need safety and equality across the board.

We are at Pride to show our support for the fight against hate.
